Macramé

A arte milenar que continua a inspirar o artesanato contemporâneo...

Although its exact origin is unknown, it is believed that macramé originated in Arabia among weavers and later developed in various parts of the world.
Some studies suggest that it comes from the Arabic word “makrama”, meaning “towel or napkin,” while others connect it to the word “migramah”, meaning “fringed fabric.”

It is believed that until the 19th century, macramé was a very popular form of feminine adornment, used in clothing, accessories, and even in items such as curtains and rugs. In the 20th century, it was somewhat forgotten, only to return to fashion in the 1970s with the hippie movement.
Today, macramé has regained prominence in interior design and contemporary crafts. From wall hangings to plant hangers, from bags to decorative accessories, this technique makes it possible to create unique and timeless pieces.

More than a trend, macramé is a form of expression — a return to the essential, to the hands and to the material.

In an increasingly fast-paced world, macramé invites us to slow down. Each knot requires presence, time, and patience, and that is precisely what makes it so special.
Creating macramé pieces is almost a meditative exercise: the repeated rhythm of the knots, the touch of the cords, and the focus on each detail make the process just as valuable as the final result.

At Manufatto Concept Studio, every macramé creation is made with purpose and soul.
We believe that the true value of a piece lies in the time and intention with which it is created.
Macramé is, therefore, a reminder that beauty lies in the details and that the hands remain the most precious instrument of creation.
